Everyone has probably noticed the bright blue recycling cans recently dropped off at homes in the neighborhood. The City of Pflugerville has expanded its recycling program to include many items that were previously going into the landfill. So we don’t have to try to remember what is accepted for recycling, the tops of the cans have very clear descriptions of items that will, and will not, be accepted. Congratulations to the City of Pflugerville for going a little greener! As a friendly reminder for all residents: While we understand that we may all have to reorganize and make room for the additional can in our garages or back yard, these cans will need to be kept out of sight unless it’s recycling day (just like the current trash cans we now use).
Cans of any type are not permitted to be stored in front of garages, fences, side of homes, etc. They must be completely out of sight from the road on non-trash pick up days. In case you missed the notification, trash is now only being picked up on Thursdays, and recycling is picked up every other Thursday. Please visit the City of Plugerville page to see more details and the new schedule. http://www.cityofpflugerville.com/recycle Thanks in advance for your cooperation! We appreciate everyone’s efforts to keep the neighborhood beautiful and uncluttered.
If you have scheduled to have your old trash or recycle can picked up and a new one dropped off, you need to notify us in advance so that we do not impose a fine for leaving your trash can out. The City of Pflugerville and IESI has notified us that it can take them up to three days to make the swap. If we see your cans out during non-scheduled pick up days, and you have not notified us in advance, we will assume that they have been left out for no reason and send a violation letter. Please use the form on this page to send us your notification, or call this number 512-918-8100.
