CHIPPING SERVICE NEWS 9/20/2012
Pflugerville’s free chipping service changes to two zones effective October 1
The city of Pflugerville provides a complimentary curbside brush/limb chipping program to Pflugerville residents based on zones. The program will change to two pick-up zones effective October 1.
"The chipping service is a free service to residents and is very popular," Public Works Director James Wills said. "We have evaluated the program and based on customer feedback and staff recommendations, we will implement a two-zone schedule starting October 1 so residents know when we can pick up their tree limbs. Our goal is for an effective, convenient and timely scheduled pickup and program operation."
The Zone Map found at www.pflugervilletx.gov/chipping shows the city as Zone 1 and Zone 2 with Zone 1 receiving service the first full two weeks of a month and Zone 2 on the third and fourth week of the month. The pickup service is free and the chips are recycled into mulch which is used in city parks and facilities and offered first come, first served to residents at the Recycling Center. Residents are encouraged to time their chipping needs with their residential zone to avoid piles of material remaining in front yards for extended periods of time.
Citizens must call 512-252-CHIP (2447) or email Chipping@pflugervilletx.gov with your name, address and phone number to be placed on the pickup schedule. You can call the chipping line anytime to be placed on the schedule.
